The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Professor Solomon Olufemi Fadiora, disclosed this to newsmen in Osogbo,
even as he disclosed that the Osun State Government has appointed a contact officer, Dr. Ogunniyi, to collate information on Ebola cases. Ogunniyi can be reached on 08032394921
He also disclosed that the Drug Production Unit, (a pharmaceutical outfit) of the hospital has commenced massive production of hand sanitiser for the hospital use.
Fadiora urged the public to give necessary information to health workers if any sick person is suspected to be hibernating at home, as swift action will be taken to adequately care for such person.
The CMD said although there is no known Ebola case in the State of Osun, the hospital is taking proactive measures against it. He added that four Isolation Centres have been created in the state, located in Osogbo, Ilesa and Ejigbo.
He also revealed that the hospital has taken steps to create awareness to the general public in the state on the Ebola virus with the printing and distribution of handbills, posters and billboards sensitising the people on the prevention, symptoms and mode of transmission of the virus.
As a way of prevention of the virus, Fadiora stressed the importance of personal hygiene especially hand washing with soap and water.
He then urged the public not run to healing houses and camps or prayer houses after contacting the virus, as this will only further spread the virus.
