SOMEBODY NEEDS YOU!!!

Just as the famous WESTLIFE band sang in that outstanding performance “somebody needs you”
Somebody indeed needs you like never before, 
Somebody wants your love…. 

I wouldn’t actually know how and when this word started, but thu8s far I know actually somebody, somewhere, somehow needs you.
Have you ever for once sat to imagine what does my neighbor next door actually desire from me? Personally, I have on several occasions imagined why do I have so many friends, and why wont they turn away from me though I am not so financially buoyant to feed five thousand men with loaves of bread and fishes. But I realize that somebody needs me. 
I might not be the best but the fact remains I am a better example for someone.

Life wouldn’t be sweet enough if there is nobody around us to comfort and to guide, to lean on and to learn from, to push and to pull. Life would be a mystery if there is no one to put a smile on our face, to wipe our tears when we cry, to scold us to correction….

Oh! I have nothing to offer anybody; I am poor, wretched, and dirty, having next to nothing, so why would someone need me? This might be running through your mind as a question.
But helps isn’t all about material things you get to offer.

Even Gods knows that no one is out-rightly poor as not to help another person. Jesus also knew that there were poor people then, yet He said: “GIVE!” this you can find in the gospel according to saint Luke Chapter 6:38.
He was very much aware that people without money and material things like the poor widow who was left with nothing but debt from her late husband who almost lost her two children to creditors because she couldn’t pay her debt still existed, and people who also had no bank account like Peter and John who said “Silver and Gold we have not”. He knew that some people who had nothing to eat and are only gathering firewood to prepare their last meal and die still existed, yet HE said “Give and it shall be given unto you”

Then I asked myself if somebody needs me, what exactly do they need me for?

You might also not know, but at least one person needs you for at least one of the following:

•  Somebody needs your smile: Can you categorically tell how many people get lifted just at a sight of you smiling? Can you tell how many people get hope from your smile? People a times get up from their depression as a result of our magically smiles. You might not know unless they confide in you, yet not everyone would be bold enough to tell you how magically your smile has helped in lifting there half-dead spirit. Someone is out there in a state of rejection, dejection, feeling neglected and all he needs is just for someone to smile at him, to make him come back to life again. Somebody, somewhere, somehow needs your smile. Might be you’re your colleague at work, neighbor next-door, or even the commercial diver your board his vehicle or that lady at the market place. Somebody needs your smile.
• Somebody needs your Time: someone out there needs nothing from you but your time, all they want from you is that you spare a little time out of your busy schedule to attend to hear there problem. Even if you won’t provide the solution needed at that time, the time you spend with such wont be forgotten easy. Somebody needs your time.
• Somebody needs your tears: As shocking as it sounds, did you know that somebody out there actually needs you to sympathize with him/her? You wonder why I didn’t use it that way that somebody needs your sympathy. Well often times we sympathize for sympathy sake not because we mean it, but the tears would roll down the eyes automatically when you put yourself in the shoes of that person. That way the bereaved wouldn’t feel alone. That is a sign that you feel is pains and he isn’t walking on life road alone.
• Somebody needs your companionship
• Somebody needs your food
• Somebody needs your Idea
• Somebody needs your support
• Somebody needs your experience
• Somebody needs your Opinion
• Somebody needs your Love

 

• Somebody needs your hug: Oh yes! Somebody actually needs this. You wander why someone needs your hug. Somebody needs your hug to actually cure loneliness, a simple hug, mild cuddling and a tender kiss on the cheek and on the fore-head might actually signify acceptance, making the person feel welcomed. It is capable of curing depression and rejection. Such an expensive cure it is yet it cost nothing.
• Somebody needs your “YES”: you could be saving a life unknowing to you just by saying a simple YES or NO. The Yes or No could be an answer to any question. Question like:

* Will you go with me?

* Will you be there for me?

* Will you help me with that?

* Will you do this or will you do that……… and many more questions like that

* Oh! I almost forgot this one, Will you marry ME?

•  Somebody needs you to say I DO: somebody needs you to complete his world, needs you to spend the rest of your life with him, needs you to be the completing part of his ribs, the one he wakes to see at dawn the one says goodnight to at night fall, the one to be called your Man, and all he needs from you is to say I DO.

Human needs differs so also is you role different in peoples life.

Can I enjoy been needed? 

Sometimes sure, but often times it’s tiring and exhausting, but it isn’t meant top be enjoyed always, depending on the area you’re needed. See it as a duty. God made me a man knowing I would be needed for some muscular duties yet he made some others women for different duty and different functioning area. It is my duty to respond to the needs of others for as long as I can.
Let me quickly share this with you: “I once help some students with my accommodation back then while I was on campus, they were actually "jambites" who came for post-jamb, and I welcomed them, seven of them to pass a night in my little students room, I cooked and we all ate and talked till we all slept off. I never knew them from anywhere and I’m not so sure I can recollect their faces if we meet again. At about 3:15am I saw one of them moved out of the room, to hiss himself I guess, not so long he returned and he whispered:

MATTHEW! With a still calm voice

I pretended to be sleeping hoping he only wanted some light.

MATTHEW!! He called again but this time a little louder.

I’ve never met a guy so like you before, who would care for strangers like is own brothers, thank you very much, I LOVE YOU, he said and closed the door as he went outside to read.

And just like that he’s gone, but his word still hang in the cool night air, if only I could reach out and snatch them, I would grab his words and hug them to my chest. His soft voice whispering one of the best sentences in the world. I LOVE YOU from someone who barely knows me. A smile curls across my lips and I slowly exhale, almost afraid to blow the memory away. I drift back to sleep and let his words settle in my heart.”

Now is time you’re needed, though it may look exhausting, you just have to stop dreaming of “one day” when things will be easier. Because the truth is, it may get easier, but it will never be better than today. Because those you fail to meet their needs today might end up been the ones you’ll need their helps tomorrow.
